Wranglers Announce Pro Affiliation
August 20 , 2008 –The Rogue Valley Wranglers announced today that they have formed a working affiliation with the South Shore Shooters professional hockey team of the Mid-Atlantic Hockey League. The move comes after a week of talks between the two team Ownership groups and is the first of its kind in either league. As a part of the agreement Wranglers GM, Kevin Schwartz will assume the position of Director of Western U.S. Player Development for the Shooters. Read the full story by clicking here.
Wranglers In Need Of Host Families
August 4 , 2008 – The Wranglers are in need of local families to host players for the upcomming season. Players arrive in Medford in early September and stay with us through the end of February. Some players attend high school while in Medford and others will attend college courses and work part-time. Families are not expected to provide transportation for the players. Any family who chooses to host will recieve 1 free season ticket per player hosted, as well as $300 per month to help cover added expenses. Wranglers Announce Draft Results
August 1 , 2008 – The Rogue Valley Wranglers are proud to release their 2008 draft results. The Wranglers selected 16 year old Josef Chase #1 overall in this year's NORPAC entry draft. A 6' 4" 190lb. defenseman, Chase hales from Olympia, WA and played last season with the U16 AAA Kent Valley Selects. Wranglers Prospect Camp Successful
July 30 , 2008 – The Rogue Valley Wranglers held their second annual Future Prospect Camp this past weekend in Medford, OR. Wranglers Coaches had the opportunity to evaluate, on and off the ice, some of the Pacific Northwest's most talented young players. A select number of players were invited back for the
Wranglers Main Camp this coming weekend. Others will have their progress tracked this upcomming season by Wranglers Scouting staff. "Given the talent we observed in some of these players who are one year away; the future looks bright for the Wranglers" Said GM, Kevin Schwartz. Wranglers to Host Midget AA Tourney
July 23 , 2008 – The Rogue Valley Wranglers Announced today that they will be Hosting their first Annual Midget AA Tournament September 19-21. The six team tourney will consist of 4 games per team plus playoffs. Benefits for attending the tournament include: Junior A Scouts, exposure to the Wranglers, first through fourth place trophies, championship banner, Junior A seminar and much more. In addition, the Wranglers will be hosting an exhibition game with the Euguene Generals and all players and coaches will recieve FREE admission. Click here to view the full tournament flier. Wranglers Announce Highland Games
July 23, 2008 – The Wranglers first annual Highland Games will take place September 6, 2008 at Coach McLean’s mountain home near Medford. The games will kick off at 10:00 AM with the bagpipe rendition of the U.S. and Canadian National Anthems played by Dr. Jim Cruickshank. The team will then warm up with a light jog to the coaches’ gate and back prior to the start of the ancient events. Events currently scheduled are the “Caber Toss” and “Putting of the Stone” throw. Although there are other ancient events, these two events will clearly test the strength and agility of the Wrangler players. This fun team building event will be concluded with a feast fit for a Scottish King!
NORPAC Game Schedule Released
July 15 , 2008 – The NORPAC officially approved the proposed 2008-09 game schedule earlier this evening. The Wranglers will open the regular season against division foe, the Eugene Generals on Friday, September 26th in Eugene. The Wranglers Home Opener will take place Friday, October 3rd against the Tri City Titans. The Wranglers are in the process of sheduling a few exhibition games prior to the regular season; more information will be released as it becomes available. NORPAC Draft Slated for July 15
July 8 , 2008 – The Rogue Valley Wranglers will have the #1 overall pick this coming Tuesday as NORPAC General Managers and Coaches will sit down for the 2008-09 draft. The Wranglers yielded the #1 pick with a last place finish in their inaugural season. With their recruiting efforts this off-season and the #1 pick in the draft, the Wranglers look to be much stronger coming into the 2008-09 season. "We are shaping up to be very competitive; our fans can expect to see a completely different brand of hockey this season" said Wranglers GM, Kevin Schwartz. Wranglers Youth Camp a Success
June 23, 2008 – The Wranglers held their first annual Youth Camp June 16-20 at the RRRink in Medford. The camp included 18 squirt to pee wee aged players from the Rogue Valley and was put on by Wranglers staff Kevin Schwartz and Dan Switalla and players Adam Webster and Sam Jossie. Wranglers Make Preseason Trade
June 24, 2008 – Wranglers GM, Kevin Schwartz, announced today that the Wranglers have traded Defenseman Aaron Steelmen to the River City Jaguars in exchange for Goaltender Jarod Secondo. Secondo posted a 5-2-2 record with the Jaguars last season with a 2.46 GAA and a .909 SV%. With this move and the possible return of last season's starter Nick Cafrelli, the Wranglers look to be very strong between the pipes this season.
Wranglers Bring on New Staff Members
June 6, 2008 – The Rogue Valley Wranglers are excited to announce the hiring of two new staff members who will play key roles in the organization.
Chris Bonelli will re-join the Wranglers staff after leaving last season on his road to a High School League Championship as Head Coach of the Ashland High Grizzlies. Bonelli will now serve as the Wranglers Assistant Coach under newly hired Head Coach Scott McLean. In addition Chris will serve as the Academic Liason between the Wranglers and local High Schools.
Also, brand new the the Wranglers family, Annie Carlson will be Joining the Wranglers staff as Player Housing Coordinator. Annie spent the majority of last season in the stands as a dedicated Wranglers fan. This season she takes on an important role in recruiting new Host Families and placing players in subsequent homes.
