Wranglers Youth Camp a Success

June 23, 2008 – The Wranglers held their first annual Youth Camp June 16-20 at the RRRink in Medford. The camp included 18 squirt to pee wee aged players from the Rogue Valley and was put on by Wranglers staff Kevin Schwartz and Dan Switalla and players Adam Webster and Sam Jossie. Wranglers Make Preseason Trade

June 24, 2008 – Wranglers GM, Kevin Schwartz, announced today that the Wranglers have traded Defenseman Aaron Steelmen to the River City Jaguars in exchange for Goaltender Jarod Secondo. Secondo posted a 5-2-2 r ecord with the Jaguars last season with a 2.46 GAA and a .909 SV%. With this move and the possible return of last season's starter Nick Cafrelli, the Wranglers look to be very strong between the pipes this season.

Wranglers Bring on New Staff Members

June 6, 2008 – The Rogue Valley Wranglers are excited to announce the hiring of two new staff members who will play key roles in the organization.

Chris Bonelli will re-join the Wranglers staff after leaving last season on his road to a High School League Championship as Head Coach of the Ashland High Grizzlies. Bonelli will now serve as the Wranglers Assistant Coach under newly hired Head Coach Scott McLean. In addition Chris will serve as the Academic Liason between the Wranglers and local High Schools.

Also, brand new the the Wranglers family, Annie Carlson will be Joining the Wranglers staff as Player Housing Coordinator. Annie spent the majority of last season in the stands as a dedicated Wranglers fan. This season she takes on an important role in recruiting new Host Families and placing players in subsequent homes.

Wranglers Announce Staff Promotions

June 6, 2008 – The Rogue Valley Wranglers announced today that they have made three note worthy promotions from within.

Dan Switalla has been promoted to Director of Player Scouting. Dan will continue his Assistant Coaching duties during practice sessions. However, due to the demands of his new position he will no longer be on the bench during games. Dan will be scouting players during the season from the youth and lower level junior ranks. He will also be keeping a close eye on Wranglers future prospects along with General Manager, Kevin Schwartz

Amber Schwartz has been promoted to the front office position of Media Relations Director. Amber will continue her duties as Strength and Conditioning Coach. However, in an effort to continue to increase public awareness, Amber will be in constant contact with the local media avenues. As a result, fans can expect to see Wrangers scores and happenings followed regularly by the Mail Tribune and local news channels.

DeAndrea Bean will now assume the position of Game Operations and Volunteer Coordinator. DeAndrea started with the Wranglers last season as a Game Operations Volunteer. She will now coordinate game night activities at all home games as well as recruit and direct Wranglers Volunteers. With this promotion the Wranglers look to build on an already highly successful and entertainng first season of game night operations.

Wranglers Announce Recruiting Plans

Adam WebsterApril 9 , 2008 – The Rogue Valley Wranglers have announced their tryout information for the 2008-09 playing season. The Wranglers will hold their second annual Prospect Camp at the RRRink in Medford, OR on July 26-27. The Wranglers Invitational Main Camp is slated to take place August 8-10 at the RRRink in Medford. An exclusive session for Goaltenders will begin on August 7th. Former Wrangler Commits to NCAA

March 31 , 2008 – Former Wranglers star Nate Schursky has committed to Division III NCAA Franklin Pierce University of New Hampshire. Schursky appeared in 31 games for the Wranglers in the 2007-08 season and netted 19 goals and 13 assists for 32 points before being traded to Eugene.

Franklin Pierce plays its regular season in the Division III ECAC conference. With this news, Schursky becomes the first player in the Wranglers brief history to commit to an NCAA program.

 

 

Wranglers Announce New Head Coach

March 25, 2008 – The Rogue Valley Wranglers announced today at a press conference, that former Power Skating Coach, Scott McLean will be promoted to Head Coach for the 2008-09 season. "We are excited to have Scott on board" said Kevin Schwartz, Wranglers GM. "He is familiar with the organization, the league, and our players. We want to put together a competitive club in the future; this is the first step towards that" added Schwartz. McLean has over 38 years expericene in the sport of hockey as a player, coach, manager, and director. With the move the Wranglers look forward to building towards a successful second campaign next season.

Wranglers End Season On High Note

February 25, 2008 – Despite dropping their Friday night contest with Coeur D'Alene, the Wranglers were able to bounce back for a huge vicory on Saturday night for the final game of their Inaugural Season. The Wranglers played in front of a standing room only crowd as they skated through the first two periods with a 1-1 tie. The second period was a battle with no scoring by either side. The Wranglers took a two goal lead in the third period however with goals by Pavle Ogrizovic and DJ Gigere. The Lakers rallied back with a late goal to come within one. But Wrangler Tom Blake sealed the deal in the final two minutes with an insurance marker. DJ Giguere followed up with an empty net goal to complete the hat trick and a successful final showing for the Wranglers who won 5-2 over the Lakers.
